Will you be going to the MCM Expo?
YES! This question is one of the most common questions I'm asked on the net. I will always be at London Expo, even if London sinks into the sea, I'll be at ExCeL on those dates. I organise my trip there months in advance and now being the MCM Blogger, I have to be there. ;P
When it comes to Midlands Expo, I've always gone to Telford on the day. London is different where I stay all weekend. This is a mad question though, I don't know why I get asked this so much. So if I pointed you to this page on my site, that means you probably asked me this question.
What's your favourite Manga?
I am a fan of quite a few mangas. One of my first which is still my favourite today, is Battle Royale. That's the manga that I recommend to everyone, especially the newer people to the manga world. The artwork is amazing and the story is compelling and completely shocking. Other mangas I like are Gantz, Black Cat, Death Note, Naruto, Strawberry 100%, FullMetal Alchemist, KimiKiss, and The Prince Of Tennis, amongst others.
What's your favourite video game?
I love all kinds of games, and I have quite a few favourites. Games that have changed my life are Tetris (Gameboy), Super Mario Kart (Snes), Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast), and the Grand Theft Auto titles. There's many other games I love though, Burnout, Lego Star Wars, Championship Manager 2, Bomberman, Sim City, Mickey Mouse Castle Of Illusion.. the list goes on.
Where do you work?
This is a no-no for me online. I have a honest job which pays well, that's all that matters. It's not the greatest job in the world and don't really care for it when I'm not there and don't really talk about it. I have more reasons but you'd have to read my biography (in production soon).
Why don't you go to pubs and clubs?
I'm just not bothered. This is asked by people I've worked with mostly. All I see when I go through town on a Friday or Saturday night is trouble. Idiots walking all over the place drunk, people being aggressive, and once I saw a bloke laid on the road in his own blood. Isn't going out supposed to be a good time, but from what I see on the outskirts of all this is problems. I'd rather avoid all that. Plus, I'm not keen on being around drunk people, and as some clubs and places like that have drug problems, that's another thing I do not like. I have a very good life without going to places like this so if anyone thinks I'm sad because I don't 'socialise' as some people put it, then that's their problem, not mine. I'm happy, leave me alone!
Do you buy pirate games, movies or music?
The simple answer to this is NEVER! I've had this argument so many times over the years about piracy. It's a crime to buy or to own any pirated copies of music, movies, and games. Musicians sometimes promote their music online and don't care that much, they get most of their money from performing at live concerts, but it still doesn't help the record companies. Anyone who copies a movie instead of going to the cinema is an idiot. Why would you not go and see a great film in big screen? Instead, people who buy pirated rubbish watch a movie which isn't good quality, and if some moron filmed it in a cinema for people to watch, it's not quality, it's just robbing the good people who made the movie. Games piracy is the worst. I've seen games companies go bust because of this over the years and it makes me sick. All the work that goes into these games, and anyone who gets these fake ass copies have absolutely no respect for all the people that put all the time and effort into the work they do. One bloke where I work told me he gets his kids pirated games (and movies) because he can't afford the full priced proper material... well don't get them at all if you can't afford them, it's not teaching your kids anything. Plus, the person who said that to me finds the money to buy himself motorbikes and been able to buy three PSP's until he got bored of them and sold them off for a price loss. Stop piracy, it's idiotic!
Why do you love Japan?
Before I carry on, I've never been to Japan. It's a dream for me to visit Japan one day, and a bigger dream to go and live there if I had the cash. I actually don't love everything about Japan. The thing I dislike about them is their love of fish, no matter the cost. Everything else though from the way they have respect, cultures, history, manga, games, landscapes and being materialists when it comes to anything... they're epic. I've played games with Japanese people, they're so nice, never had the problems I have with British and American gamers. I do know a little bit of the language too and learnt the Kana a while back (rusty now), but Kanji is something I'd need to spend a lot of time with. You know, it's impossible for anyone who isn't Japanese to learn everything without living there, I wish I could.
Why is cosplaying so good? (Cosplaying = Costume Play or Fancy Dress)
A lot of people just don't understand why folks dress up, whether it be their favourite games character, or just jump into a Superman costume for a party. You people who think it's sad, sorry, but you're the sad ones for thinking that. Don't you have any sense of fun whatsoever? I find those who say cosplaying is sad or a waste of time, are either taking drugs and can't see past the end of their bong, or people who are so scared to admit that it is fun because they're worried what their friends might think. My answer to these sorts who hate cosplay... leave us alone and get on with your own sad boring lives.
Cosplaying is a lot of fun. If you have a favourite game, movie or anime/manga character, you can act as them for a day at a convention or private meet or party.
There's nothing wrong with dressing up as Link from the Zelda games, or a Jedi from Star Wars. It's so much fun and everyone should have a go in my opinion. It also makes for some brilliant photos and memories.
What is Tonyo Times?
It's all about fun, passion, and everything Tonyo. Tonyo Times started out on 26th of April 2007 as a fun online newspaper cover. I got loads of people involved on later issues, getting them to send photos of themselves with such things as chocolate bars, DVDs, books, etc. In February 2008, I decided to scrap my then popular Nightowl Darksky YouTube channel and make a Tonyo Times one instead. I started all over again. Then in July 2010, I made the official website www.TonyoTimes.com and haven't looked back since.
I've always covered media, been controversial in my views, and always tried to get people involved. Since August 2010 on the Tonyo Times website, I've brought a team of people together and created Team Times. Since then, it's spawned a YouTube channel, and I'm sure it'll bring other new projects in the future.
